CERTIFICATE IV IN HAIRDRESSING
This qualification reflects the role of skilled senior hairdressers who use a range of highly developed sales, consultation and technical skills and knowledge to provide a broad range of hairdressing services to clients. These senior hairdressers provide specialist services in one or more areas including haircutting, design, colouring and complex colour correction, trichology and chemical reformation.
OVERVIEW
In the Certificate IV in Hairdressing course, student are trained to reflects the role of skilled senior hairdressers who use a range of highly developed sales, consultation and technical skills and knowledge to provide a broad range of hairdressing services to clients. These senior hairdressers provide specialist services in one or more areas including haircutting, design, colouring and complex colour correction, trichology and chemical reformation. Students are trained to work independently and many hairdressers at this level are able to provide technical leadership, training and support to team members.
At Vibe College, students have opportunity to complete their practical on live client at the college salon. We also encourage and assist our full time students in finding other salons that would allow them to perform practical and gain additional industry exposure.
COURSE DETAILS
MODULES
11 Units must be completed:
- 2 Core Units
- 9 Elective Units
A minimum of 4 Units must be selected from Group A Hairdressing technical skill electives.
The remaining units may be selected from the Group B General elective units or another endorsed Training Package or accredited course; these must be units which are first packaged at AQF level 4 or 5.

SHBHTLS003: Work as a session stylist
SHBHREF001: Curl and volumise hair with chemical treatments
TAEDEL301A: Provide work skill instruction
TAEDEL402A: Plan, organise and facilitate learning in the workplace
Above list only includes units selected by Vibe College in delivering. However, there are more units listed within training package for elective units. Vibe College might change the units in agreement with students and related stakeholder to meet the need of learners/changing industry trend.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Domestic Students
Students who enter into this course should have an interest and passion for the industry. In addition, student also nee to meet two mandatory requirements listed below to enter into this course:
- achieved a Certificate III in Hairdressing (or equivalent);
- and at least one-year post-qualification full time employment experience as a hairdresser in a salon environment where they have applied the skills and knowledge covered in the above (or equivalent) qualification.
Students who enter into this delivery have an interest and passion for the industry. They have a desire to learn through the practical hands on approach and prior experience through a part time job or similar which will be beneficial. It is however expected that participants are able to display sufficient English Language, Literacy, and Numeracy skills at a Year 12 level or equivalent. Capacity to complete the assessment items within the required timeframes is required.
International Students
International students are required to meet two mandatory requirements similar to domestic student. In addition, international students are also required to meet certain Academic and English language requirement to get accepted in to Vibe College. Please follow link below to review the requirement.

Fee for Service
- Option 1: Upfront 100% Payment.
You can pay course fees in full upfront through your own pocket either by direct debit or credit card. A direct debit or direct withdrawal of funds can be arranged and scheduled from your nominated bank account. We accept payments by MasterCard or Visa.
- Options 2: Payment Plan
You are required to make first instalment before course commencement and make the remaining payments through convenient instalments weekly, fortnightly, monthly or per semester. Terms and conditions apply.
- Options 3: Direct Debit
A direct debit or direct withdrawal of funds can be arranged and scheduled from your nominated bank account.
- Options 4: Credit Card

VOCATIONAL PLACEMENT
The Certificate IV in Hairdressing includes no mandatory requirement for practical placement. However, we do help our student to get in touch with various employers to complete practical placement. In addition, student also get opportunity to work on live client at college salon.
